A few months ago, Sony and Honda announced a joint venture in the electric vehicle business, which includes design, production and launch. Recently, the two companies have agreed to add more names to the new business.
The new business name between Sony and Honda is Sony Honda Mobility Inc. It will be officially launched in Tokyo from the end of 2022 onwards. Plans to launch their first electric car are set to begin in 2025.
Each company holds a stake in Sony Honda Mobility Inc. 50% of them, Honda Chairman Yasuhide Mizuno was appointed Chairman and CEO, while Sony EVP Izumi Kawanishi was appointed Chairman and COO.
According to previous reports, Honda will use its many years of experience to strengthen the production of cars and find a market for this brand new electric car. Sony, on the other hand, focuses on sensors, cameras, communications systems, telecommunications services and in-car entertainment.
